SALARY:
CITIZENS' employees are paid fair and competitive semi-monthly salaries based on individual, skills, talents and experience. Paydays are the 15th and the last day of each month.

GROUP MEDICAL INSURANCE:
The Company provides employees with group health, accident, life, and dental insurance coverage. Family coverage is available at employee expense.

PROFIT SHARING PLAN:
Annual contributions are made by the Company to the Employee Profit Sharing Plan as determined and apportioned by the Company's Board of Directors for the benefit of qualified employees. To qualify for participation in the plan, you must be at least 21 years of age and have been a full-time employee of the Company one year. You receive a personal report each year stating the balance in your profit sharing account. The plan is currently crediting the account of each employee who has been in the plan from inception with $30 thousand dollars or more annually. It is a qualified tax-deferred plan.

CAFETERIA PLAN:
The Company provides each employee with the opportunity to pay certain personal expenses from their paychecks on a pre-tax basis. This means, all amounts deducted from your pay and set up in this plan, will not be subject to Federal Income Tax or Social Security Tax. The types of items that may be deducted include dependent insurance premiums, out-of-pocket medical expenses and child care expenses, etc.

A BANK ACCOUNT:
A no-service charge checking account is available for you at the Company's primary banking institution, Regions Bank.

BREAK ROOM:
The Company provides coffee, tea, and hot chocolate to all employees free of charge.

A FREE PERSONAL PARKING PLACE:
The Company provides free parking for all employees on one of the CITIZENS Plaza parking lots.

EAGLES CLUB MEMBERSHIP:
When an employee has five years tenure with the Company, he/she qualifies for membership in the Eagles Club. First-year Eagles receive a gold pin. A diamond is added to the pin for each five years of service. Eagles Club members and their spouses/dates are, from time to time, invited as Company guests to attend special luncheons, dinners, plays, cultural events, etc. The Eagle is a symbol of strength and serves as the Company's mascot. More than thirty-five percent of CITIZENS' employees are Eagles.

CITIZENS' STOCK PURCHASE PLAN:
For the convenience of its employees, stockowners, policyowners, and associates, CITIZENS sponsors a registered stock purchase plan which facilitates acquiring and safekeeping an individual ownership interest in the Company. A specified sum of money may, at your request, be deducted from your semi-monthly paychecks and credited to your personal CITIZENS stock investment account with Computershare Trust Company, N.A. (the administrator) for the purchase of shares of CITIZENS, Inc. Class A Common stock. Individual statements of account are mailed by Mellon periodically to keep you updated on your current CITIZENS stock investment. CITIZENS' Class A Common stock is listed on the New York Stock Exchange where it trades daily. The CITIZENS' Stock Exchange symbol is CIA.

FREE PROFESSIONAL HAIR CARE SERVICES:
A unique benefit offered by CITIZENS is a free hair care program. The Company provides basic hair care at no charge to its employees through a master hair stylist. The stylist offers discounts for additional services to CITIZENS' employees and family members.

MEDICAL CONSULTATION:
Through the Company's two medical directors, employees may obtain free doctor consultations on personal health matters. The medical directors are not private family physicians; therefore, they cannot serve as your personal or family doctor. Appointments to see the doctor are made through the Personnel Director.

SPIRITUAL COUNSELING:
Through the Company Chaplain, employees may obtain free psychological and spiritual counseling. When an employee needs someone to privately discuss personal or family matters, an appointment can be made with the Chaplain through the Personnel Director.

HOLIDAYS:
The Company provides nine paid holidays each year. The following seven holidays usually remain constant from year to year: New Year's Day, Labor Day, Good Friday, Thanksgiving Day, Memorial Day, Christmas Day, Independence Day, and the two remaining holidays are floating days currently combined with Thanksgiving and Christmas. Any change in the holiday schedule will be announced sufficiently in advance to give you the opportunity to plan accordingly.

VACATION:
Employees become eligible for their first paid vacation after they have been employed for 12 months from their date of hire. Each annual vacation may be taken within the 12-month calender year after the employee's one-year anniversary.

Individuals with more than 10 days vacation time will be paid for vacation days in excess of 10, such to be included in the payroll check received for the pay period immediately prior to the vacation period. Ten days vacation is the maximum number which may be taken. Vacation days which are not taken, or paid for, expire at the end of each employment anniversary period.
